Drupal Association blog: Women’s History Month Spotlight: Stella Power

Drupal CMS

Since 1981, the month of March has been designated as Women’s History Month. To celebrate, we excitedly share some of the accomplishments of women in the Drupal community!

First up, we have Stella Power. Stella Power is Managing Director of the leading open source digital agency Annertech, which she founded in 2008. Not only does she lead a team of 40+ to create bespoke digital experiences for some of Europe’s largest organizations, but she is an internationally renowned contributor to the open source Drupal project. She lives in Dublin with her husband and two young daughters.

Read on to hear her thoughts on being a woman in technology and her advice for other women who want to enter the field!

Drupal Association: What’s it like to be a woman in technology?
Stella Power: Tech is a field that doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to hiring and retaining female talent, and many women have experienced discrimination in some way or another. I’m fortunate to work with a strong, supportive group of people who have become like family, and I have thrived. There isn’t another field I’d rather be in.

Drupal Association: What keeps you motivated in your career in technology?
Stella Power: I love challenges and solving problems. Things change all the time in this industry and there are always new problems to solve. It keeps me on my toes.

Drupal Association: What advice do you have for future women business leaders?
Stella Power: Trust your gut. It’s hard to do initially because it’s easier to doubt yourself. But you know more than you realise and you can do more than you think. Push your own boundaries.
